LED LENSER USA SENDS HELP FOR RECOVERY EFFORTS TO STORM VICTIMS IN THE MIDWEST
May 1, 2012, Portland, OR - Immediately following the devastating storms and tornados that ripped through the Midwest this April, LED LENSER USA rushed donations of LED flashlights to the Red Cross in Kansas to help.
"Not only were some of these towns extremely hard hit, they were without power; a basic necessity to even begin to recover", said VP of Marketing, Roger Bjorklund. "They shouldn't have to think about light in a time like this. They should just have access to it." After speaking with Red Cross representatives in the region, it was decided the lights should be sent to one of the hardest hit areas, just outside Wichita, Kansas where the power had not yet been restored.
Bev Morlan, American Red Cross Midway-Kansas Chapter Executive Director was instrumental in coordinating the overnight delivery of the lights. "Our hearts go out to the families affected by the recent storms, and we want them to recover safely," said Morlan. "It's phenomenal knowing the comfort light can bring to dark situations, and on behalf of the people we're serving, thank you to LED LENSER for coming to their aid."
Leatherman Tool Group, parent company of LED LENSER USA, has a long history of donation to disaster recovery and re-building efforts; sending both supplies and volunteers here in the United States and abroad. "Our brand promise is to prepare people for the expected and the unexpected," said Bjorklund. "To deliver on this promise, especially, to people in these kinds of emergency situations, sending these lights was just the right thing to do."
