Imagine yourself in a situation that you need to stop someone who is intent on rushing you for whatever reason. You have a lot options for self-defense. There are bottles full of pepper spray that can stop someone when it is sprayed in the eyes and on the face. But, the bottle can go off in your purse or pocket or even spring a leak, making a total and possibly painful mess. There are also personal tasers available that you can use to shock an assailant into submission or at least cause enough of a shock to give you some extra time to get away. Not only are companies, including the Department for Homeland Security, researching personal protection devices, they are also developing devices with tactical capabilities for military and law enforcement applications.

Most of us use flashlights, even if not every day. Almost everybody has a flashlight stored in the house for use when the power goes out. Most outdoorsmen and professional workers cannot afford the weak light output and short lives provided by traditional flashlights, so they have turned to LED flashlights to get the job done. These lights last longer because the LED bulbs are designed to use less energy from a set of batteries then a traditional bulb. The LED bulbs also last as much as ten times longer than a traditional flashlight bulb, making LED flashlights and torches the longest lasting light source available.

The police duty belt contains the equipment that a police or security officer must carry with them at all times. These items vary by municipality, but generally include handcuffs, a police flashlight, radio, a baton, a handgun and ammunition and pepper spray, mace or other chemical spray. More demands are placed on police flashlights than on regular flashlights. The urgency of law enforcement does not allow for substandard equipment that suddenly ceases to function or is detrimental to the job at hand. Police departments must use companies which specialize in law enforcement equipment to meet the unique requirements of its officers. Over the years, there have been several recent innovations in both heavy duty flashlights and tactical flashlights for law enforcement officials. These newer models help address some of the special needs and situations police officers face.
