Most outdoorsmen and professional workers cannot afford the weak light output and short lives provided by traditional flashlights, so they have turned to LED flashlights to get the job done. These lights last longer because the LED bulbs are designed to use less energy from a set of batteries then a traditional bulb. More demands are placed on police flashlights than on regular flashlights. The urgency of law enforcement does not allow for substandard equipment that suddenly ceases to function or is detrimental to the job at hand.
